CEGO Headquarters

Casually scaling since 2000: Still here

A founding team started CEGO in Aalborg, Denmark in 2000 with one thesis: Create online entertainment entirely in-house. We design, develop, and operate online casino games and platforms. Every game in our library is original. Every platform we run is proprietary. Every compliance function is internal. Twenty-five years of deliberate choices, compounding into a structure that is genuinely hard to beat.

One company: Everything built in-house

CEGO A/S is a vertically integrated online gaming operator headquartered in Aalborg, Denmark. Founded in 2000, the company designs, develops, and operates proprietary casino games and platforms across two regulated markets: Denmark (DGA license held continuously since 2012) and the United Kingdom (UKGC license secured in 2021).

The business runs three consumer brands: Spilnu.dk in Denmark, Happytiger.co.uk and Spinking.co.uk in the UK. Behind them sits one in-house game studio (Magnet Gaming) and one proprietary technology platform, built and maintained entirely by an internal engineering team. No third-party content licenses. No platform licensing fees. No game royalties flowing to an external studio. The full value chain is internal.

The team numbers 140+ people, with an average tenure of more than five years. VIA Equity invested in 2019 to support international expansion. The UK market, activated with Happytiger.co.uk in 2021, is the current growth vector. AI is operational across every function.

One building: Every game built here

Watch how a CEGO game is made. Conceived, illustrated, coded, and integrated by one team, in one building. The full creative and technical pipeline has been internal since the beginning.

When you own the development pipeline, you own the margin it produces. When the same team that builds the game also runs the platform it lives on, the feedback loop is tight and the iteration cycle is fast. The illustrators, engineers, and platform operators all share a building, not just an org chart.

This process applies to every game in CEGO's library. No exceptions.

"It typically starts with an idea. A spark that takes shape. Once the concept is ready, the illustrators get to work. Then it's up to the magicians. They build, code, and integrate. And then it's an in-house built Happy Tiger game. Built from scratch."

Four values: All with operating evidence

These were not written for the website. They describe how the company has run for 25 years. Each one is backed by a decision, a data point, or a record you can verify.

01

Players first

Sustainable revenue comes from players who trust the product. CEGO's games are designed for moderate bet sizes and long session enjoyment, not high-roller extraction. Players come back simply because they enjoy the games. CEGO holds DGA and UKGC licenses because we operate in regulated markets where the regulator asks the same question we do: is this good for the player over time?

02

Ownership over outsourcing

CEGO built what it uses: game design, illustration, code, platform, compliance infrastructure, marketing capability. The decision to build internally was about quality, cost structure, and strategic independence. When Spinking.co.uk launched in 2023 as a second UK brand, it required no new platform vendor, no new game licensing deal, and no new compliance outsourcing arrangement. It launched on existing infrastructure.

03

Honesty without ceremony

CEGO operates with a flat structure and minimal layers of approval. People at every level can raise a problem, propose a solution, or challenge a decision without navigating a hierarchy designed to slow them down. The evidence is the operating record: average tenure across CEGO's 140+ person team is more than five years. In an industry where developer churn is endemic, that number is a signal. What produces it is not a ping pong table. It is a culture where people feel trusted, have ownership over their work, and are not managing upward.

04

Long-term over short-term

CEGO has never optimized for the quarterly number at the expense of team stability, regulatory standing, or product quality. VIA Equity's 2019 investment reflected alignment on this orientation: capital deployed for international expansion, not short-term margin extraction. Obtaining a UKGC license, building a compliant platform, and launching Happytiger.co.uk required multi-year investment before the first pound of UK revenue was generated. Spinking.co.uk followed in 2023 on the same proprietary stack, at dramatically lower marginal cost. That is what long-term thinking produces: compounding returns, not one-time events.
